6G - What might it be?
As the standardization of the fifth generation (5G) communication systems has been completed and the 5G network will be commercially launched in 2020, the research visioning and planning of the sixth generation (6G) communication systems has started. 6G communications are expected to be the focus in wireless communication and networking research in the coming years and aim to meet the future demands in terms of data rate, latency, energy-efficiency, and number of supported devices. In this seminar, we investigate the exciting new applications envisioned for 6G communications and their enabling technologies including intelligent surfaces, artificial intelligence-aided communications, flying base stations, integrated computing-sensing-communication, holographic communications, massive connectivity for machine-type communications, and quantum communications.
